Re:samplers

i don't know if anyone's mentioned these, as i've only been skimming, but
let's not forget "benefit" cds like the silverwood homeless project and
others. And local samplers: our coolest coffeehouse has a "Live at Mother
Fool's" cd out, and another in the works.

i just love a good folk or blues sampler. easy for gatherings at home where
you don't want to hear all the same artist. (and yes, i purchase full-priced
based on them.)

As a radio station, we've debated a local-artist or WORT-volunteer-musician
(lots of our 200 volunteers are also musicians) sampler CD as a fundraiser.
WERU in Maine did a great one with all local artists (except for Greg Brown
on one cut).

Gotta go, it's time to listen to the Bluegrass Calendar...
