Rose Garden Competition Winner Announced

The Rose Garden Coffeehouse in Mansfield, MA is proud to announce the winner
of this year's Performing Songwriter Competition... Darryl Purpose from Los
Angeles. The other two finalists -- David Sturtevant from Erie, PA and
Jenny Reynolds from Wellesley, MA -- also did a superb job in front of
about 130 enthusiastic audience members. The three performed their two
songs live just before Bill Staines came on as the featured artist. The
three judges (Sonny Ochs from Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Brian Quinn from
WUMB-FM, and Matt Robinson from Eastern Front Records) had an extremely
difficult task in selecting the winner.
Darryl will perform as a featured artist sometime during the next season as
part of his first place award. For more complete information and
