If you ask me, this is a key reason for entering these festival competitions
anyway -- to get to meet and hang out with other "up-and-coming" writers you
might not otherwise cross paths with so easily. To me, it's always been more
about the comraderie than the competition. Your post is a great example of
that.

Subject: Ellis on MTV--go figure

I was also watching the Real World on MTV Tuesday night and heard
Ellis Paul's "Deliver Me." I almost fell out of my chair. I thought about
writing to MTV and congratulating them on their great choice of artists
but then realized that there was no chance that they appreciated him. So
goes the corporate music world... Anyway, I just wanted to mention that I
saw Ellis a few weeks ago at the Night Eagles in NY and was amazed by him.

Just a reminder that the cutoff date for advance sale tickets ($28.00) for
the Canyon Country Bluegrass festival in Wellsboro, Pa- is July 1. Info. is

music for bluegrass fans as well as folk fans. Folk enthusiasts will love
the Sat. AM open stage featuring (among others)- Rosewood with Suzanne
Sterling and Dan Shipe and Sat- 5pm will be the Nick Ippoliti Trio.
Headliners include Peter Rowan, Jerry Douglas, Del McCoury & The
Freighthoppers. Many other bands will be performing throughout the 3 day
festival.

WHAT
Common Ground on the Hill is a traditional music and arts organization whos
purpose is to offer a quality learning experience with master musicians,
artists and crafts people, while exploring cultural diversity in search of a
"common ground" among ethnic, gender, age and racial groups. The focus of
this fourth year of programming is "Traditions: Native American, Black and
White."

Whether your artistic interest be instrumental music, singing, dance, the
spoken or written word, or the fine arts, whether the tradition that interests
you is Seminole, Ceeltic, African-American, Appalachian or Yiddish (to name a
few), you will find courses that will inspire and renew you.
