Hi folks,

I just got back (the "just" part is literal, trust me) from Kerrville, and
like an idiot here I am reading my e-mail after driving for 16 hours :-) Saw
the thread asking about information on house concerts and wanted to draw your
attention to www.houseconcerts.com, a site set up by Glen and Cheryl Duckett
to promote their own "Flowers in the Desert" concert series (in Brenham, TX),
as well as providing basic contact information for other house concert series
they are aware of. I made a quick visit to their site, and they have a
listing of house concerts organized by state (then city)...for example, I
randomly clicked on California and then Berkeley and got some information on
Sally Greenberg's series.

I got a chance to hang out with Glen and Cheryl (and their sons, including
budding songwriter/guitarist Sean) at Kerrville and they are great people. I
got the impression from Cheryl that they are fairly new to the folk scene, but
they are extremely enthusiastic and passionate about the music, and helpful as
can be. I have a feeling that if you would like them to list your house
concert series, all you'd need to do is e-mail them the info and they'd
include it on their site. And I think it would be great if we all spread the
word, so as to make their website listing as comprehensive as possible (I
only hope Glen and Cheryl will feel the same way if they start getting tons of
e-mail with new listings ;-)

Just visit www.houseconcerts.com and or e-mail music@houseconcerts.com.

Cheers,

--peg (who may do a Kerrville report, after I get some sleep ;-)
