The New England Kevin Welch concert series:

Well, I finally collected the scraps of paper from the bottom of my purse; on
which I "tried" to write a song
list for each of the 4 Kevin Welch performances that I attended. Where you
see a (?), that means I was either interupted by someone or I was in a
trance;-) I know there are fans here that were at the shows; so
If you would, please add to these "mental notes" or make correctionsÖÖthanks

Boston, MA. May 13th:
Johnny D's flyer posted this as a "solo" performance. This country rocker
does not need a band to rock, He creates 'plenty of energy all by himself.'
How very true! The audience was silent as they listenedÖ..totally captivated
as Kevin performed many songs from all of his cds plus a few new ones.
Pushing Up Daisies, Life Down Here On Earth*, Early Summer Rain, Something
About You, The Other
Side, Wilson's Tracks, Beneath My Wheels*, Sam's Town, Hello, I'm Gone, Some
Kind Of Paradise,
Bastard Nation*, Like Delta Flood Waters*, One Way Rider, 'Til I See You
Again, Plenty Of Time (?),
Restless Kind, Untitled Waltz*, Mother Road, Lost Highway (?), Kicking Back
In Amsterdam, Troublesome Times, Me And Billy The Kid and Train To Birmingham.

(Before Kevin sang LDHOE*, he told us about a postcard that he received from
NASA, showing the astronauts holding up his cd LDHOE. The song, by the same
title, was played for the astronauts wake-up
call on a shuttle flight recently. BMW*--a beautiful song, incredible
lyrics, having the similar style/quality
of some songs on the cd LDHOE. BN*--a powerful song; written for a friend
that was adopted at birth and her difficulty in the search for her "identity."
LDFW*--a tidal wave of a love song. UW*--for the poet William Stafford - will
be recorded by Waylon Jennings.)

Concord, NH. May 14th:
This was more of a country gentleman performance in a performing arts center.
Kevin opened for Alison Krauss and he sang: Pushing Up Daisies, Life Down
Here On Earth*, Something
About You, Wilson's Tracks, Untitled Waltz*, One Way Rider, Early Summer Rain
and Train To Birmingham*

(Kevin told the NASA story and that Waylon Jennings will be recording UW*,
also that John Hiatt wrote TTB*)

Portland, ME. May 15th:
Another country gentleman performance, in a classy symphony hall. Some of
the audience recognized the song LDHOE from CMT. Kevin opened for Alison
Krauss and he sang: Pushing Up Daisies, Life Down Here On Earth*, Something
About You, Wilson's Tracks, Hello, I'm Gone*, Kicking Back In Amsterdam*, Too
Old To Die Young*

(Kevin told the NASA story; explained what Luccheses boots are and that some
people don't "get" the song HIG*; changed the line "bad ass band" to (?) in
KBIA*; and sang TOTDY* for the late Mr. Frank Sinatra. He had to stop and tune
his guitar, named "sister," a few times)

Northampton, MA. May 16th:
A folk-poet-philosopher performance in a famous college town venue. Kevin
said something about the fact that he went to college for about 15 mins.; that
he had never performed at the Iron Horse before-not sure why not; that maybe
he should have gotten a marketing degree like Garth Brooks. The audience hung
on every word and swayed on every phrase.
During this show Kevin sang: Pushing Up Daisies, Life Down Here On Earth*,
Something
About You, Every Little Lie*, Wilson's Tracks, Early Summer Rain, Sam's Town,
Hello, I'm Gone*,
Some Kind Of Paradise, Bastard Nation*, One Way Rider, Like Delta Flood
Waters*, I Feel Fine Today,
Untitled Waltz*, I Came Straight To You*, Troublesome Times, (?), and Kicking
Back In Amsterdam.

(Kevin told the NASA story and added that he attended the launching of the
shuttle flight; said that ELL* was a new song; explained about Luccheses boots
and that you aren't supposed to have to explain a song - HIG*; told about his
adopted friend - BN* and that someone had come up to him after a show and said
they did not have the same experience; told the name of the song LDFW*, told
that he sent the song UW* over to Waylon and that Waylon would be recording
it; then he told about a fan that requested ICSTY in Boston and he told her he
could not remember the lyrics------so she wrote out the lyrics for him and
gave them to him at this show----sooooooo, he had to sing ICSTY*; (?) he
said/sang "walk with love/hold on to your dreams"-----All right)
