I saw a recent note about Joe Giacoio and his record (Superman's Midlife
Crisis) finding a home in Noma. I want to relate a recent local
performance moment with him and SongLand. SongLand is an occaisional
grouping of Joe, Dan Palletier, and New Middle Class (Mike and Barbra
Borak) and sometime a visitor.

On the night is question, the visitor was Carla Ulbrich. The venue wa
One Station Plaza in Peekskill, New York, a 30 seat storefront.

Joe does hot acoustic guitar; once and a while he does a pure acoustic
number. Hands flailing, tapping, both hands fretting at the same time
using hammeron/hammeroff. It was a magical moment. Afterwards, Carla spoke
quietly "On the other hard, you can't borrow my guitar later". Dan spoke
from the piano, "No piano tonight, Joe". And from the audience... "Don't
touch Barbra, either!" The audience was falling on the floor.
