The Oasis compilations are ONLY provided to radio stations. I'm record
librarian at my local folkie station and believe me, I LISTEN to them.
Micah does a wonderful job of assembling the songs in an order that makes
them fit.

Fortunately not everyone sends a promo copy to the station (I'm supposed to
listen to the incoming stuff to have an idea which DJ each should be
targetted to). Since I have a notion of which DJ is more likely to play a
different style of music, I can listen to the Oasis CDs and know that
Artist-X has a wonderful cut that would fit on DJ-Y's show. And I can look
for the artist's CD to see if we already have it, and if we don't have it,
I can contact the artist or have the targetted DJ contact the artist for a
copy for the station.

I have also been known to contact artists I have found on these
compilations and purchase a copies of their CDs for myself.

The Oasis compilations are a great source for finding music of many truly
independent artists who I am unlikely to stumble across anywhere other than
perhaps at a Folk Alliance conference.
